How to read the Mustang Mach-E ratings
Fueleconomy.gov has six Mustang Mach-E listings in each of the 2025 and 2026 model years: RWD and RWD Extended with rear-wheel drive, and AWD, AWD Extended, GT and Rally with all-wheel drive.
On the electric label, driving range is the approximate number of miles the vehicle can travel in combined city and highway driving on a full charge, and the charge time is how long a fully empty battery takes to charge on 240-volt service. Fueleconomy.gov notes that lower voltage than the label specifies will take longer, and that the automaker can provide complete charging information.
MPGe, miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent, is the number of miles the vehicle can go on a quantity of electricity with the same energy content as a gallon of gasoline. Kilowatt-hours per 100 miles relates directly to the electricity used, and so to cost. In 2026 the RWD Extended has the best ratings, 320 miles and 110 MPGe combined; the Rally uses the most electricity, 40 kWh per 100 miles.
Fueleconomy.gov does not list 2027 Mustang Mach-E ratings yet; as of November 3, 2026, its 2027 Ford listings cover the Explorer and Expedition.
From the 2025, 2026 and 2027 Ford model listings, the 2025 and 2026 Mustang Mach-E records and the Electric Vehicles: Learn More About the Label page on fueleconomy.gov (U.S. DOE/EPA), read November 3, 2026.
What lowers real-world Mach-E range
Fueleconomy.gov says EPA estimates are based on standardized tests and are a useful tool for comparing vehicles, but may not accurately predict what you will get. For electric vehicles it points to these factors:
Cold weather
In cold weather an EV's fuel economy can drop roughly 39% in mixed city and highway driving and its range by 41%. About two-thirds of the extra energy goes to heating the cabin; with the heater off, range is about 12% lower at 20°F than at 75°F.
Heat and air conditioning
Under very hot conditions, air conditioning can cut a conventional vehicle's fuel economy by more than 25%, and the effect on EVs can be even larger on a percentage basis. A warmer AC setting uses less battery power.
Pre-heat or pre-cool while plugged in
Pre-heating or pre-cooling the cabin while the vehicle is plugged into the charger can extend range, and seat warmers use less energy than the cabin heater.
Braking
Anticipate stops and brake gently or moderately so regenerative braking can recover energy. Hard braking uses the conventional friction brakes, which do not recover energy.
Accessories and economy mode
Heating, air conditioning and other accessories can have a bigger effect on electric vehicles. Many EVs have an economy mode that can limit performance, such as acceleration, to save energy.
Charging and the owner's manual
Keeping the battery charged helps maximize driving range. Fueleconomy.gov suggests checking the owner's manual for the best charging advice for your vehicle.
